A few months ago I was at dinner at Coalvines in Uptown with a friend who was visiting from out of town. We will call her Stephanie. Stephanie and I were enjoying a nice bottle of wine with pizza when I noticed this attractive man a few tables away from us on the patio. I kept staring at him and was reminded of my boyfriend from college who passed away. I decided I had to speak to him, so I asked the waitress to give him and his friend another beer. The older gentleman immediately came over to speak to us, but of course I wanted to talk to the younger guy. Finally the younger guy came over and introduced himself as Jake and chatted for a few minutes. He invited us to come over to their table to finish our drinks, but we declined and stayed at our table. Once they were finished, Jake came back over to the table and gave me a piece of paper with his email and phone number.

I called him later that night while attending the drag show and talked to him for a few minutes. The details are a bit fuzzy now on talking that night and week, but we agreed to meet up for dinner and drinks. We had a nice sushi dinner followed by drinks. He was tellling me about flying, his family, and of course how he had been on vacation for the past six weeks in California with a group of guys. I thought it was quite strange for a 31 year old pilot to be on a six week vacation, but then again this is Dallas. We chatted and had a lovely time so I thought and went our separate ways. We texted again, and he called to invite me to dinner. It was the night of my friend’s dad’s funeral, so I just didn’t feel up to talking to him or going on a date. I texted him again the following week, but he responded that he was feeling sick, etc.

The following Monday I received a call from Stephanie who had visited and met him who said she heard a familiar voice on the tv and to turn it on. I was out and don’t watch tv, so I told her I would check online the next day.
Low and behold Jake was a contestant on The Bachelorette..Unreal. Now I know why he was on vacation for six weeks with a bunch of guys.

I have since watched The Bachelorette online every Tuesday and saw him get kicked off this past week as the guy who is “too perfect.”

I only met him once, but I will say he was very handsome in person and quite the gentleman. Be on the lookout for him in Dallas. I wouldn’t be surprised if the network selects him as the next Bachelor.
